On Wednesday, September 25th, the SportsBarn and ScoutConnect staff ran the inaugural Fall College Camp at Roy E. Lee Field in Edwardsville, IL. This event featured 30+ athletes from Illinois & Missouri, in the 2025 and 2026 grad classes respectively, that participated in a pro-style workout, followed by a simulated game.
Those in attendance received TrackMan hitting data, Rapsodo pitching data, laser-timed 60s, and positional velocities. Additionally, there were more than 20 collegiate programs in attendance, including five Division I programs.

Catcher Notes
+ Amongst all players in attendance, C Maxx Grieme (Taylorville, 2026) came away as a must-follow uncommitted junior catcher in Illinois. A strong-bodied backstop, Grieme took a highly impressive round of BP, working gap-to-gap from a loud, intentful right-handed stroke. Grieme’s firmest ball came off his bat at 94 mph, and his deepest barrel traveled 340.6 feet; additionally, Grieme got off one of the loudest in-game swings of the night, squaring one up deep to right-center field for a flyout. His biggest asset may be his arm, however, reaching 80 mph on his hardest throw down to the bag with a quick-trigger to release. Expect Grieme to be a popular name on the circuit from now until his eventual college commitment, and he should firmly be on the collegiate radar.
+ C Braden Fournie (Belleville West, 2026) is another defensive standout behind the plate to follow in the Illinois’ junior class. Fournie’s glovework is advanced for his age, with soft hands that present the baseball well, and a constant willingness to chest up the baseball on blocks. His arm has ticked up as well, reaching 78 mph on his firmest bullet down to the bag. Offensively, Fournie’s swing works slightly uphill to contact with some barrel length, and he’ll flash feel to elevate to the pull-side on occasion.
+ C Asher Cantu (O’Fallon, 2026) stands in the left-handed batter’s box at a hard-to-miss 6-foot-4, 205-pounds with occasional pull-side power to match his physical stature. Cantu’s arm played with easy carry out the hand and he was around the bag often in his defensive workout, reaching a peak velocity of 77 mph.
+ Still uncommitted, C Lucas Urschler (Fox, 2025) swings a quick and direct right-handed barrel that peppered backside line drives throughout his round of BP. Defensively, Urschler’s active behind the plate with a vocal presence to him and topped at 76 mph from the crouch.
