On ‘Opening Day’ of the MSHSAA season, the ScoutConnect scouting staff made the trip to Rock Bridge in Columbia, MO, to take in a non-conference matchup between the Bruins and our No. 5 ‘Large School’ ranked DeSmet. Rock Bridge won the game thanks to early offense and quality defense, taking down the Spartans by a 7-5 score.
Aside from the social media aspect of our scouting, we’ll release our ‘Scout Notes’ the day after each game, which will provide a more detailed analysis of some players that stood out to our staff on that given day.Continue reading below to learn more about a few names that impressed our staff from this look.
ROCK BRIDGE BRUINS
Cooper Siebuhr, 1B, 2025, Mineral Area JC commit
Strong, compact left-handed hitter that started at first base and hit in the four hole. Strong hands, short and uphill swing. Lone hit on the day was an opposite field double that drove in a run. Figures to be a key piece as a middle-of-the-order bat for the Bruins’ lineup this spring.
Will Kimes, CF, 2025, Uncommitted
Lean, athletic frame, right-handed hitter that led off and started in center field. Picked up two hits on the day. Drove a double deep into the right-center field gap in his first at-bat, turned one around and squeaked a single down the left field line his third trip to the plate. Fast, athletic hands, gets on top of the baseball with a short path to contact. Can really run, impact defender in center field that covers ground easily. Tracked down a deep fly ball to the deepest part of the park – Rock Bridge High School’s 408 feet to center field – that most high school outfielders don’t get to.
Tyler Towe, OF, 2025, Truman State commit
Athletic left-handed hitter, hit second for Rock Bridge. Do-it-all type at the plate that showed that in this look. Dropped down a sacrifice bunt in his first at-bat that ultimately resulted in a run scoring. Worked a count in his second at-bat and sprayed a two-strike single into center field to bring home two runs in a big spot. Got off his ‘A’ swing in his third trip to the plate, barreling a pull-side lineout to right field. Short, compact stroke, works slightly uphill to contact with high bat-to-ball and minimal swing-and-miss.
Crew Norden, C, 2025, USC – Upstate commit
Physical, muscle-bound frame that doesn’t lack strength throughout. Earned first team All-Conference honors on the football field this past fall. Started behind the plate and hit third for Rock Bridge, impressed for his efforts defensively. Clear leader, vocal and captains the defense. More than willing to throw himself at the baseball and block it, showed that multiple times. Athletic and quick out of the chute, jumped out of his crouch and fielded a weak dribbler a few feet in front of home to throw a runner out at first base. Strong hands at the plate with a clear approach, shortens up with two strikes. Flared a single to right field in his second at-bat and found the barrel for a loud out his third time up.
Koen Straub, RHP, 2025, Uncommitted
Long, lanky 6-foot-5 athlete that duels as a basketball player for Rock Bridge. Took the ball and drew the start for the Bruins in their opening act of the 2025 season and threw well in two innings against a quality DeSmet lineup. Controls his levers well down the mound, repeated and worked in line to home consistently. Long arm draw finishes out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball played down in the zone in the low-80s, comfortable mixing-and-matching with a low-70s breaking ball with gradual action.
Connor Huddleston, LHP, 2025, Moberly Area CC commit
Wiry, athletic frame, entered in relief and earned the save for Rock Bridge in a 7-5 win. High effort mover with intent, creates some deception with a short, tight ¾ arm stroke that doesn’t work with much room on the backside. Fastball played in the low-80s with some jump out the hand, stayed mostly on the arm-side corner of the plate. Showed a short wrinkle breaking ball in the upper-60s with sweep.
DESMET SPARTANS
Charlie Wortham, C/INF, 2025, Mississippi State commit
Physical frame with strength throughout that fills out the uniform. Started at shortstop and hit third for DeSmet, also a standout defender behind the plate that will likely be his future home at the collegiate level. Looks every bit the part of an impact right-handed bat and amongst the top offensive threats in the St. Louis’ area. Strong hands with easy bat speed, has a quick tip in his load before starting his swing. Short to contact, keeps his barrel level through the hitting zone for a long time. Got on top of one and barreled it down the left field line for a two-run single in his second at-bat. Drove a fastball deep to center field that would have been a home run in most high school ballparks in his third at-bat. Looked the part at shortstop despite being known for his efforts behind the plate. Soft hands, comfortable on the move and doesn’t let the game speed up. Charged a run through play fluidly, gathered it, and worked fluidly through it to release. Short, accurate arm, gets rid of the baseball quickly and clearly has an internal clock. Expected to be one of the top prospects, and performers, in the area this spring and is a firm candidate for our ScoutConnect Player of the Year award.
Caynen Patterson, C, 2025, Southeast Missouri State commit
Physical, muscled-up frame with clear strength throughout. Started things for the Spartans from the top spot in their lineup and drew the start behind the plate. Strong hands with bat speed that can backspin the baseball when his barrel stays level through the zone. Shortened up on one and barreled it back up the middle for a single in his second at-bat. Easy arm strength behind the plate, quick to release with a short, athletic arm stroke, ball carries out the hand.
Sylvester Tournier, RHP, 2025, Heartland CC commit
Strong, well-proportioned frame, drew the start for DeSmet on the mound and hit cleanup. Fastball sat 84-87 mph, played mostly straight, did show subtle arm-side action at times. Spun a 71-72 mph curveball that was best when it had sharper, more lateral break on a 10/4 plane, did show more of an 11/5 shape at times. Singled back up the middle in his first trip to the plate.
Landon Edmonds, OF/INF, 2025, Snead State CC
Compact, athletic frame with lean strength throughout. Started in right field, though did move to second base midway through the game, and hit seventh for DeSmet. Barreled a 2-0 fastball for a single in his second at-bat, his lone hit of the contest. Fast, athletic hands that work in rhythm at load, stays level through the zone and favors the pull-side. Plays with a high motor, consistently gets out of the box at max effort.
