With the IHSA season underway, the ScoutConnect scouting staff will be out and about in full force throughout the spring, providing quality coverage to high school athletes on a game-to-game basis. Aside from the social media aspect of our scouting, we’ll release our ‘Scout Notes’ the day after each game, which will provide a more detailed analysis of some players that stood out to our staff on that given day.
Continue reading below to learn more about a few names that stood out to our staff in a Southwestern Conference matchup between Belleville East and No. 8 Belleville West, which the Lancers won 11-0.
BELLEVILLE EAST LANCERS
Tommy Kramkowski, RHP, 2025, Missouri State commit
Athletic, well-proportioned frame with lean strength and room to continue adding more. Drew the start for Belleville East, hurling three perfect innings with six strikeouts. Works with pace and tempo, stacks onto his backside and rides it down the mound. Athletic delivery, throws with intent through footstrike, threw with more effort in this look than we’ve seen in the past. Short, tight arm action, high ¾ finish. Fastball touched 90 mph multiple times in the first inning, settled into the upper-80s as he went on. Challenged often, worked up in the zone and to the glove-side corner of the plate. Spun a sharp breaking ball with hard downer action at 76-77 mph, grabbed several ugly swings-and-misses and was able to land it for strikes as well. Highly competitive, not afraid to attack hitters and get ahead early in counts. One of the area’s top arms, should anchor this Belleville East staff as the spring progresses.
Grady Davis, INF, 2025, Uncommitted
Athletic frame with proportional strength. Started at second base and hit third for the Lancers. Entered yesterday hitting .667 in 26 plate appearances on the season. Found a loud barrel to center field in his first at-bat for an RBI double, brought another run home on a sacrifice fly to right field in his third at-bat. Simple, quiet all-around operation with balance, loose hands that work in rhythm. Stays level through the zone with some length to contact, ball carried off the barrel. An uncommitted senior that’s performing at a high rate in the early going for Belleville East.
Jalen Jones, OF/INF, 2025, Uncommitted
Lean, athletic frame. Started in center field and hit ninth for the Lancers in this look. Had two hits on the day – legged out a single to the 6.5 hole and flared another single later in the game to right field. Gets on top of the baseball, doesn’t do too much and just tries to put the ball in play. Advanced runner, gets to peak speed quickly out of the box. Ran a 6.70 60-yard dash at our Fall College Camp event last September. Athletic enough to stick in center field at the next level, has also played both up-the-middle infield spots in the past. Another uncommitted senior to follow for Belleville East.
Caden Cagas, 1B, 2025, McKendree commit
Physical with strength throughout, started at first base and hit out of the sixth hole. Had three hits on the day, including a double into the right-center gap, and scored two runs. Stands tall in the box with a high leg kick trigger, looks to elevate the baseball with a steep, uphill path to contact. Has above-average raw power from the right side and has shown our staff notable pull-side power in the past.
Nasir Fares, OF, 2026, Uncommitted
Large, physical right-handed hitter, hit fifth for Belleville East yesterday and started in right field. Has been performing in the early going for the Lancers and kept doing so yesterday, starting the game off with a no-doubt home run to left field on a hanging 77 mph slider. Was on the barrel to the pull-side again in his next at-bat, sending a fastball through the left side of the infield for a single. Starts crouched with a wide stance, draws his hands back with a quick barrel tip load and works towards the baseball. Has bat speed and strength, ball really jumped off the barrel in both of his at-bats. A potential middle-of-the-order type uncommitted junior to keep tabs on for the Lancers.
Reid Neumayer, OF/LHP, 2026, Uncommitted
Athletic frame with lean strength and room for more. Set the table at the top of this Lancers’ lineup and played left field. Had three hits on the day – one pull-side single, one up the middle, and an opposite field line drive that fell for a hit in his fourth at-bat. High bat-to-ball with a spray approach, looks to make contact and use the whole field. Above-average runner that gets to peak speed quickly out of the box. Also a notable follow on the mound; has pitched in the mid-80s with his fastball while showing feel for SL/CH mix. A two-way uncommitted junior that should make an impact on both sides of the ball for Belleville East this spring.
Adam Smith, INF/RHP, 2026, Uncommitted
Lean, athletic frame. Came out of the ‘pen and fired four shutout innings, scattering two hits with no walks, a hit by pitch, and three strikeouts. Simple tall/fall type delivery, works in-line to target without much effort and repeats. Short, loose arm path that works out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball played in the low-80s, got ahead in the count often and worked to both corners of the plate. Spun a tight, shorter wrinkle breaking ball at 69-71 mph off it, feel to land it for strikes.
Brody Lindemann, C/RHP, 2027, Uncommitted
Athletic, long-levered frame with present physicality and plenty of room to continue adding strength over the next few years. Started behind the plate and hit cleanup as a sophomore for the Lancers. Singled and drove in two runs on the day. Flashed bat speed with a long, level right-handed swing, has a chance to really hit for impact one day as he continues to further fill out his frame. Quiet hands behind the plate, handled an upper-80s arm well and is comfortable squaring up the baseball on blocks.
NO. 8 BELELVILLE WEST MAROONS
Treyton Bowen, OF, 2025, East Central CC commit
Compact frame with proportional strength throughout, started in left field and hit sixth for the Maroons. Did not record a hit on the day, but did get off arguably the loudest swing of yesterday’s look, barreling a deep line drive to center field that missed a home run by a few feet. High intent right-handed swing with hand speed, works underneath the baseball some with a long, level path through the zone. Athlete defensively, made an impressive diving play in left field that most high school outfielders don’t make.
