The ScoutConnect staff is once again updating our MSHSAA St. Louis’ area team rankings, with the sixth week of the Missouri high school baseball season under our belt. Again, this ranking only includes teams in the St. Louis’ area.
We’ve detailed some movement in our top-10 below, highlighting a few teams on the rise, one new teams jumping in from last update, and a few teams that are playing well, though on the outside looking in
THE TOP 10…
+ Francis Howell (19-2) is once again the No. 1 team on our rankings, a title they’ve held throughout the spring season. The Vikings swept a conference series with Francis Howell North (2-1, 3-2) and defeated North Point (3-0) before traveling to Columbia to split a series with a talented Rock Bridge (6-5 L, 3-0 W) team. Their pitching staff continues to be among the area’s best, allowing two or fewer runs in four of this week’s five games.
+ Vianney (21-0) continues to look like a juggernaut, with the Griffins staying put at No. 2 in this update after a four win week. They handled a ranked SLUH team in a conference set, winning 4-0 and 5-1 respectively, before defeating ranked Fort Zumwalt West (2-1) and Marquette (9-4) on Saturday morning. Vianney is the area’s only undefeated team and appears to be the cream of the crop in Class 5.
+ Fort Zumwalt West (18-6) holds onto their spot at No. 3 overall despite a 2-2 week. The Jaguars took their conference series with Troy Buchanan (7-3, 10-3) to start things off, but they dropped consecutive contests to end the week, losing to Kirkwood (7-1) on Friday and No. 2 Vianney (2-1) on Saturday. The Jaguars ranking is indicative of what we think of this club, and despite the six losses, this is still one of the top teams in St. Louis.
+ There is a new team at No. 4, as Rockwood Summit (13-4) climbs up four spots after an impressive week. The Falcons entered the preseason as one of the top teams on our rankings and, after scuffling a bit, have won eight straight games, including three this past week. They swept Eureka (5-4, 4-3), who was previously fourth on this list, in a conference set, and ended the week with a 6-3 win over Cedar Hill. Their offense is starting to take shape, as INF Kaden Dinges (2026), 1B/C Jackson Miller (2025; Quincy), INF Wyatt Schneider (2026), INF Blake Bell (2025), and C Blane Branscum (2025) are now all hitting over .300 on the year.
+ Lindbergh (14-4) bumps up two spots after a 2-1 showing, now sitting at No. 5 on our list. They fell to Oakville (7-5) to start the week, splitting the season set with the Tigers, but bounced back quickly, sweeping a conference set with Lafayette (4-1, 5-4). The Flyers have a big test this upcoming week when they face off against No. 4 Summit in a two-game conference set.
+ Eureka (11-8) falls two spots after losing all three of their games – a sweep at the hands of Rockwood Summit and a 6-3 loss to Westminster. Despite a tough week, we still believe in the Wildcats, largely in part to the dynamism that their pitching staff has.
+ Another team on the rise is Oakville (12-6), who’s up two spots to No. 7. The Tigers won three games this week, handing Lindbergh a 7-5 loss to start the week while also claiming victories over Webster Groves (2-0) and Parkway West (7-2). They did lose to Seckman on Tuesday in a 7-2 game. Oakville continues to have one of the area’s more dynamic pitching staffs, with LHP Jack Werkowitch (2025; Lindenwood), LHP Kaleb Owens (2026), RHP CJ Lake (2026), and LHP Aiden Zehnle (2026) all sporting sub-2.00 ERAs.
+ SLUH (12-5-1) is down three spots after losing three games this week, now at eight on this list. They fell to St. Dominic on Monday and lost both of their conference battles with Vianney.
+ After debuting in our rankings last week, Union (18-4) bumps up one spot to No. 9 after a 3-1 showing. They rallied back after a 6-3 loss to Blair Oaks (6-3) at the start of the week, defeating St. James (6-1), Westminster (8-1), and Parkway West (6-0).
+ There is a new team this time around, as St. Dominic (14-5-1) debuts at the final spot in our top-10. The Crusaders took down SLUH (4-1) at home on Monday and followed that up with a 9-3 win on Thursday over Lutheran St. Charles. They have lost one game since March 27th, winning 11 games in that span.
NEXT UP…
+ Francis Howell Central (16-8): Keep an eye on the Spartans, as this club has won nine straight games and has really looked the part doing so. In that span, Francis Howell Central has scored eight or more runs in six of those contests, and they’ve allowed three or fewer in all but one. Their biggest test of the season to date will come this week, as they are set to face off with Fort Zumwalt West in a conference set.
+ North Point (16-7): The Grizzlies have been on our ‘Next Up’ for some time now, and our staff is just waiting to see a bit more from a resume perspective before bumping them into the top-10. They won three games this week – beating Washington (12-0, 15-5) twice and Troy Buchanan (8-1) – but did lose a game to Francis Howell (3-0).
+ Seckman (12-8): Questions over their pitching staff kept the Jaguars out of our preseason rankings, but they seem to have created an identity at this point in the season, winning eight of their last 10 games. C Brady Vessells (2025; Jefferson JC) has been nothing short of dominant at the plate, slashing .492/.592/.820 in 61 at-bats with 13 extra-base hits, three of them home runs.
+ Warrenton (13-4): Six straight wins for the Warriors, who have allowed a run or less in four of those games on this streak. RHP Carter Martin (2027) threw a no-hitter this past week, lowering his ERA to 1.85 over 30 ⅓ innings of work with 61 strikeouts to just 10 walks. C Austin Haas (2025) and INF Colin Disilvester (2025) are both having strong seasons at the plate to lead this offense.
+ Parkway South (12-5): The Patriots were in our rankings earlier this season and dropped out after a five game losing streak, but they haven’t lost since then, rattling off seven straight wins.
