The ScoutConnect staff is once again updating our MSHSAA St. Louis’ area team rankings, with the seventh week of the Missouri high school baseball season under our belt. Again, this ranking only includes teams in the St. Louis’ area.
It’s a relatively quiet, weather-shortened week, and with that we don’t have a ton of movement within our top-10, although there is one team that debuts for the first time. A look at how the area’s top teams did this past week, and a handful of clubs that are playing well on the outside looking in, found below.
THE TOP FIVE…
All five of the top spots in our rankings remain the same as last week:
+ Francis Howell (24-2) continues its hold on the top spot of the rankings after a five win week, which included a conference sweep of Liberty (12-3, 8-0) and wins over Marquette (8-1), Glendale (3-0), and Kickapoo (8-7). The Vikings have lost two games all season – a conference split with No. 3 Fort Zumwalt West and an extra-innings lost to a really talented Rock Bridge club – and have one of the most impressive resumes in the state, with a multitude of highly impressive wins.
+ Vianney (23-0) remains the only unbeaten team on this ranking, sticking at No. 2 after sweeping DeSmet to finish conference play with a perfect 8-0 record. The Griffins will play O’Fallon (IL), Lutheran South, Festus, and Westminster Christian this upcoming week.
+ At No. 3, Fort Zumwalt West (21-6) picked up three wins last week, sweeping a conference set with Francis Howell Central (5-3, 8-2) and beating Fort Zumwalt South 10-5 on Friday.
+ Rockwood Summit (17-5) has won 12 of its last 13 games, including taking two of three from Lindbergh (4-2 & 7-1 W, 4-2 L) this past week, while also picking up wins over Seckman (7-5) and Parkway Central (4-1). The Falcons keep hold of their No. 4 ranking, drawing Parkway West twice this week and Oakville on Friday.
+ Lindbergh (16-6) split their conference set with Summit (4-2 W, 7-1 L) and lost to the Falcons in a ‘Midwest Classic’ affair as well this past week, while also defeating Fox (8-0) on Monday afternoon. The Flyers round out the top five teams in this week’s ranking.
THE REST OF THE TOP 10…
+ SLUH (15-5-1) rises up two spots, now sitting at sixth, after a perfect 3-0 week. The Jr. Billikens defeated ranked Oakville in extra-innings on Monday, with wins over Bishop DuBourg (11-1) and John Burroughs (6-2) as well.
+ Oakville (13-7) stays put at No. 7 after a 1-1 split this past week. The Tigers lost to ranked SLUH in extra-innings and beat Northwest 7-1.
+ Union (20-5) and St. Dominic (15-6-1) are both up a spot, now sitting at No. 8 and No. 9 respectively. The Wildcats dropped a contest to Father Tolton (8-5) to start the week before bouncing back with wins over St. Clair (10-3) and Lutheran St. Charles (11-10). St. Dominic also lost their first game last week, dropping a 9-6 game to Timberland, before turning around and beating St. Francis Borgia 5-1 on Thursday.
+ After spending a large chunk of the season on our ‘Next Up’, North Point (19-7) enters our rankings for the first time at No. 10. The Grizzlies won all three of their games last week, sweeping Fort Zumwalt East and taking a game over St. Charles on Friday afternoon. They’ve won nine of their last 10 games, with their only loss being a 3-0 defeat at the hands of No. 1 Francis Howell.
NEXT UP…
+ Lafayette (13-9): The Lancers just missed jumping back into the rankings this week. They’ve won five in a row, including four this past week where they outscored their opponents 39-to-4. The Lancers have a challenging week ahead, matching up with Kirkwood, Marquette twice, No. 1 Francis Howell, and Holt.
+ Parkway South (15-6): This Patriots team keeps rolling, as their only loss since April 15th came this week to Father McGivney, who’s one of the top teams in Illinois. They’ve won 10 games in that span, with victories over Webster Groves (3-2), Seckman (3-1), and Parkway West (10-3) this past week.
+ Kirkwood (14-3): Six in a row for the Pioneers, who added three more wins to the year’s total this past week. Kirkwood blanked Hazelwood West (7-0) and rival Webster Groves (13-0), while also beating Chaminade 4-1.
+ Warrenton (14-4): The Warriors only played one game this past week, picking up a 10-1 win over Liberty. They’ve won seven in a row and are one of the area’s top Class 5 teams.
+ Westminster Christian (15-8): Keep an eye on the Wildcats, who continue to look the part of a tough out in Class 5. They won both of their games last week, beating Francis Howell Central (10-9) and John Burroughs (10-0). The Wildcats have five players with more than 55 at-bats hitting above .350 on the year, with two senior arms in RHP Asher Waitkus (2025) and RHP Ethan Martin (2025) that are both throwing the ball really well.
+ Farmington (15-5): The Knights won 10 games in a row at one point this spring and, after scuffling a bit, won two games this past week, defeating North County (3-2) and previously ranked Festus (8-4) with a loss to Valle Catholic sandwiched between. RHP/INF Aiden Redmond (2025; Jefferson JC) continues to lead this club on both sides of the ball, slashing .448/.515/.552 in 58 at-bats with a 1.27 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched.
